When was the last time you stepped into the world of play? In this training, we explore how play is present in the everyday life of kindergarten and how we can use play as a core foundation for observing children’s learning and development. We examine how to add a playful approach to all activities and how to organize a well functioning learning environment. We also explore the teacher’s role in play, and what play reveals about a child’s learning and development.

Objectives of the training

  • Strengthen participants’ understanding of play as a core context in early childhood education and how to structure everyday activities around it
  • Offer concrete examples of how to implement a playful approach in daily learning
  • Provide methods for meaningful and insightful observation of play

Content of the training

  • Why is play important?
  • How to organize a functioning play environment
  • Seeing play as a core context for learning
  • Teacher’s role in play
  • Play observation

I personally learned a lot about play based learning. Also learned about how we should manage our classroom environment in a child friendly manner. At the end I understood that it’s all about how teacher’s use their creativity in constructing a holistic education for children using free play. Thanks a lot for organising a workshop like this and I’m looking forward for more.”
